Uros Floating Islands

Trip summary

At A&R Peru Travel, we believe that travel should not only show you places but also connect you deeply with the people and traditions that give them life. This half-day journey to the Uros Floating Islands is more than a simple visit—it is an immersion into one of the most extraordinary cultures of Lake Titicaca.

The Uros people, descendants of one of the oldest Andean civilizations, have preserved a unique way of life for centuries. They live on islands built entirely from totora reeds, a plant that grows abundantly in the lake. Walking on these islands feels like stepping into another world, where the ground is soft underfoot, the air is filled with the scent of reeds, and every detail reflects resilience and harmony with nature.

Our tour is designed to go beyond the typical sightseeing experience. You will not only see the islands—you will meet their people, hear their stories, and witness how tradition and daily life intertwine. From learning how the islands are constructed to understanding the community’s values and challenges, this experience will leave you with a lasting impression of the cultural richness of the Andes.
